Nickelback es un grupo de Rock alternativo nacido en Hanna, Alberta (Canadá), integrado por Chad Kroeger, Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake y quien fuera el primer baterista Brandon Kroeger. Nickelback es uno de los grupos canadienses más exitosos comercialmente, vendiendo alrededor de 31 millones de copias en todo el mundo. Nickelback se posiciona en la undécima posición como mejor promoción musical de la década de los 2000, y también se posiciona en la segunda posición como mejor promoción musical extranjera, después de Los Beatles, para la década de los 2000.
La banda actualmente se establece en Vancouver, Columbia Británica, en Canadá. El nombre de la banda proviene de la palabra 'nickel' (moneda en español) que Mike Kroeger utilizaba frecuentemente cuando tenía que devolver cambio, cuando trabajaba en la cafetería Starbucks ("Here's your nickel back", o "Aquí está su moneda de vuelta").
La banda tiene contrato actualmente con EMI en Canadá y con Roadrunner Records para el resto del mundo. Lanzamientos recientes: 2008-presente
El 4 de septiembre de 2008, Roadrunner Records anunció que el primer sencillo del próximo álbum iba a ser 'If Today Was Your Last Day', el cual iba a ser lanzado el 30 de septiembre de 2008. Sin embargo, la canción se omitió como primer sencillo y se colocó 'Gotta Be Somebody' en su lugar. El nuevo álbum, llamado Dark Horse, fue lanzado el 18 de noviembre de 2008, y fue producido por Robert "Mutt" Lange.
'Something In Your Mouth' fue lanzado como segundo sencillo sólo para las radios en Canadá el 15 de diciembre, donde alcanzó el #1. 'If Today Was Your Last Day' fue el segundo sencillo lanzado en Estados Unidos (tercero en Canadá), el 31 de marzo de 2008. Biografía
El nombre de Paramore fue tomado de "Par l'amour" lo que en frances significa "para el amor". A los 13 años de edad, Hayley Williams se mudó de Meridian, Mississippi, a Franklin, Tennesse, donde conoció en el instituto a los hermanos Farro con los que inició la banda. El nombre de la banda proviene del apellido de la madre de uno de los primeros miembros de la banda, cuando se dieron cuenta que sonaba igual que la palabra paramour en frances y significaba amante secreto decidieron adoptarla como nombre pero con la ortografía de paramore. El dueño de la discográfica Fueled by Ramen los contrató tras verlos actuar. Ese año Jeremy Davis salió de la banda por razones personales, dejando a Paramore con 3 miembros, y el nombre del disco All we know is falling fue inspirado por Jeremy. En el sillón rojo de la portada del disco se ve una sombra que se va, representando el abandono de Jeremy y dejando un espacio. Después la banda le pidió que regresara, Jeremy aceptó, volviendo a la banda en julio de 2005. La primera canción escrita por todos los miembros se titula "Conspiracy" y la pusieron en su primer disco All we know is falling (2005) del cual lanzaron como primer sencillo la canción Pressure, pero la canción no tuvo el éxito esperado. El mayor éxito de este álbum fue la canción Emergency.
